STM - 00197 180 Degree Peel Strength of Non Elastic Laminated Nonwoven Fabrics

Laminated materials with improved peel strength are obtained with point bonded thermoplastic layers. Here, one of the layers contains bicomponent fibers or filaments. The density of the core component is greater than the density of the sheath component, and both layers contain compatible components. Peel strength of at least 125 percent is achieved in laminated materials obtained without such bicomponent fibers or filaments.

Laminated materials containing films and other nonwovens also have a wide adhesive strength. This material is useful for many nonwoven applications, including barrier applications such as surgical gowns and drapes, institutional garments, agricultural fabrics, recreational fabrics and personal care product ingredients, and healthcare.

Nonwovens (non-woven or non-woven fabrics) and their production have developed extensively, resulting in a wide variety of materials for many applications. For example, in lining fabrics that provide dry skin contact, disposable diapers and personal care products, light and open nonwowen materials are used.

Heavier nonwoven fabrics are designed with porous structures suitable for filtering, absorbent and barrier applications, such as wraps and wipers for products to be sterilized, or protective clothing for medical, veterinary or industrial uses. Heavier nonwoven fabrics have been developed for agricultural and construction uses.

The STM-00197 standard provides a test method for determining the 180 degree peel strength of non-elastic laminated nonwovens. Peel strength is the measure of the average force required to separate two bonded materials such as tape, labels, textile or plastic films. The strength value is found during a peel test at a constant rate of speed by dividing the average force required by the unit width of the connected specimens. Depending on the materials, shapes and products, the tests are applied at different angles. The most commonly used angles are 90 and 180 degrees.

With the experience gained over many years, our organization also provides 00197 degree peel strength test services of STM-180 Non-elastic laminated nonwoven fabrics to the demanding enterprises within the framework of laboratory services of the materials with a trained and expert staff.
