TS EN 149 Filtered Half Masks for Protection Against Particles

EN 149, a European standard, is among personal protective equipment and is a standard that describes the requirements for maintenance-free dust, fog and smoke masks. This standard, which was designed in accordance with the personal protective equipment directive 89/686 / EEC published in European Union countries, has been updated in the following years. According to the last published standard, the number of products is three and all dust masks provide protection against both solid and water and oil-based liquid particles.

Dust masks that protect against particles are classified as FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3. The higher the number, the higher the level of protection. It is the most correct move to choose the highest protection in a field of activity containing toxic substances.

A FFP1 coded face mask provides protection against large, solid particles. This mask is sufficient for protection against irritants only. However, it is not suitable for harmful substances. The lowest filter efficiency is 78 percent. A FFP2 coded face mask provides protection against solid and liquid irritant aerosols. The lowest filter efficiency is 92 percent. A FFP3 coded face mask provides protection against solid and liquid toxic aerosols. The lowest filter efficiency is 98 percent.

For some dust masks, there is an additional indication besides the FFP code. For example, a dust mask bearing the letter D means it has passed the dolomite test. In other words, it is more resistant to clogging over time.
