TS EN 16350 Protective Gloves Electrostatic Properties

EN 16350, a European standard, defines the requirements and test methods for the electrostatic properties of protective gloves. This standard describes additional requirements for protective gloves worn in areas where flammable or explosive areas are present or may exist. It also offers a test method for performance, marking and information purposes for protective gloves that consume electrostatic energy to minimize explosion risks.

TS EN 16350 Protective Gloves Electrostatic Properties

This European standard does not cover electronic protective devices, protection against mains voltages, insulating protective gloves for live work and protective gloves for welders. This standard should only be used in conjunction with specific standards applicable to the risks for which a protective glove is designed. Protective gloves that consume electrostatic energy are effective only if the user is grounded with a resistance of less than 108 degrees.

Electrostatic properties of a glove should be evaluated with vertical leakage resistance (in Ohms) according to EN 16350 standard. Electrostatic hazards in explosive environments are defined in TSE CLC / TR 60079-32 standard. This standard also defines electrostatic properties for various garments at 25 percent relative humidity.

The EN 16350 standard relates to requirements for gloves used in explosive atmosphere (ATEX) zones. In contrast, it does not include: gloves used to protect electronic devices against electrostatic risks (EN 61340-5-1 standard), insulating gloves for live work (EN 60903 standard) and welder gloves (EN 12477 standard).

Electrostatic properties alone are not enough to ensure safety. The person wearing gloves should be grounded with shoes that consume enough energy and a floor that consumes energy.

The standard in question has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 16350 Protective gloves - Electrostatic properties.

Within the scope of protective clothing tests, TS EN 16350 Protective gloves electrostatic properties testing services are also provided by our organization.
