The EN ISO 22568-3 standard, which describes the requirements and test methods for metallic holes resistant inserts used in foot and leg protectors, is actually a European standard and has been re-published by the International Standards Organization (ISO).
This part of the EN ISO 22568 standard relates to safety, protective and occupational shoes that define the performance and essential features of the shoe, combined with the ISO 20345, ISO 20346 and ISO 20347 standards. With the introduction of these standards, all national standards for metallic puncture resistant inserts have been withdrawn. This standard has been prepared to allow manufacturers to demonstrate the performance level of metallic puncture-resistant inserts before being inserted into shoes.
The metallic puncture-resistant insert is a metallic shoe component that is placed or intended to be placed to protect against mechanical puncture.
Some testing methods that are generally used to test safety shoes according to standards to ensure safety and quality requirements are met: impact resistance, compression resistance, metatarsal protection, puncture resistance, electric shock resistance, static distribution and conductivity. For example, impact resistance tests determine the strength of the footrest and the resistance to the weight falling on it. After the drop tests, the space remaining in the cover is measured. Weather conditions, stroke shape, weight amount, reduced distance, falling speed, impact strength and compression resistance standards are part of this test.
The standard in question has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the following heading: TS EN ISO 22568-3 Foot and leg protectors - Requirements and test methods for shoe parts - Part 3: Inserts resistant to metallic holes.
