TS EN 407 Protective Gloves

EN 407, a European standard, defines the requirements and test methods for protective gloves used against thermal risks. This standard describes the requirements for protective gloves manufactured to protect against high heat or fire. The numbers on these products show glove performance for each standard test. The higher this figure, the higher the glove's performance level.

TS EN 407 Protective Gloves

According to the test method described in the TS EN 407 standard, the burning properties of the protective gloves are first determined. Accordingly, firing time and how long the material shines or how long it burns after firing are measured. If the stitch breaks after a 15 second ignition time, the glove test is considered unsuccessful. In the second stage, the transmission temperature is measured. For this, the glove is exposed to temperatures between 100 and 500 degrees. Then the time taken for the inside temperature of the glove to increase by 10 degrees is measured. The glove must withstand a maximum temperature of 10 degrees for at least 15 seconds.

It is measured how long it takes for the glove to increase the internal temperature of 24 degrees for convective heat. For radiant heat, a certain heat permeability of the glove is measured. In addition, the strength to withstand the number of molten metal drops, providing a temperature rise of 40 degrees between the glove material and the skin. Finally, at the last stage, a PVC film is attached to the back of the glove material and poured over the molten iron material. It is then measured how much molten iron is poured to damage the PVC film.

The standard in question has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the following heading: TS EN 407 Protective gloves against thermal risks (heat and / or fire).

Within the scope of protective clothing tests, TS EN 407 Protective gloves test services are also provided to our businesses.
