TS EN ISO 11611 Protective Clothing Used in Welding and Related Processes

The ISO 11611 standard, an international standard, describes minimum basic safety requirements and test methods for protective clothing such as headgear, apron, sleeve and socks, which are manufactured to protect the user's body, including caps and gaiters. This standard applies only to hoods and socks, it does not cover the requirements for foot, hand, face and eye protection.

Garments that fall within the scope of the standard are produced to protect the user against small splashes of molten metal and short-term flame contact, to protect against radiant heat from an electric arc used for welding and connected processes, and to minimize the possibility of short-term electric shock.

Welding workers must wear personal protective equipment covered by other standards for adequate protection against other risks to be exposed. Selection of welder type clothing for different welding activities is given in detail in the annex of the standard.

The criterion of classification as protective clothing for use in welding is limited flame spread. This criterion is tested to analyze how the fabric burns after exposure to a small vertical flame. These tests are based on the EN ISO 15025 standard (former DIN EN 532): This standard meets the following criteria: no sample can continue to burn towards the top or side edges, no sample can form holes larger than 5x5 size, no sample can give off flame or molten debris, flame The average time after it cannot exceed two seconds and the average glow retention time cannot exceed two seconds.

This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 11611 Protective clothing - Used in welding and related processes.

Within the scope of protective clothing tests, our organization also provides protective clothing testing services used in TS EN ISO 11611 welding and related processes.
