TS EN ISO 14116 Wear Protective Clothing Against Heat and Flame

DIN EN ISO 14116, an international standard, describes performance requirements for materials with limited flame spread and protective clothing. This standard aims to prevent potential hazards that arise for clothing that touches short flames or occasional small flames with various faults. This is related to situations caused by heat sources but without a significant risk. If there is a situation where additional protection measures are required due to the risk of heat and flames, protective clothing according to this standard is not suitable.

The ISO 14116 standard also defines additional requirements for protective clothing, including mechanical clothing and requirements related to labeling and information. The specified model requirements for garments falling within the scope of this standard are: sufficient overlap between jacket and trousers, no folds in trouser legs, no flame or thermally conductive parts in all layers, and seam strength after more than 30 Newton washings.

They consist of protective clothing, several or multi-layered clothing or a single garment in accordance with the standard in question. In addition, each material should also be tested in accordance with the TS EN ISO 15025 standard, and an index for flame spread should be determined (Protective clothing - Flame protection - Standard of test method for limited flame leakage).

The ISO 14116 standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 14116 Protective clothing - Heat and flame protection - Limited flame emission materials, material groups and clothing.
