The EN ISO 19918 standard, which describes the specifications and test methods of chemical protective suits, is a European standard on the basis and has been re-published by the International Standards Organization (ISO).
This standard describes the requirements and test methods for determining the resistance of materials, covers and seams used in personal protective equipment to the penetration of solid or liquid chemicals with a vapor pressure and insolubility below 25 degrees and 133 Pa.
The chemicals mentioned here are generally part of pesticide formulations and other mixtures. This test method is not intended to be used in place of other standards that measure the penetration of water-volatile or soluble chemicals or liquids that do not interact with other substances (such as ISO 6529, EN 16523-1 and ASTM F739).
This test method is suitable for field strength and other mixtures where concentrated pesticide formulations and the active ingredient are commonly used liquid and gaseous chemicals with low vapor pressure and low solubility. This standard is not suitable for the measurement of volatile chemicals that evaporate before chemical analysis is complete.
According to the TS EN ISO 19918 standard, the degree of contamination depends on various factors such as the type of exposure, application technique and chemical formulation. The level of exposure is significantly variable. For this reason, the test method described here is designed to determine the relative performance of personal protective equipment materials for different periods of time. With this method, cumulative permeability is measured. Its resistance to penetration or corruption is not measured.
