The EN ISO 22568-1 standard, which describes the requirements and test methods for metallic coatings used in foot and leg protectors, is actually a European standard and has been re-published by the International Standards Organization (ISO). This standard relates to safety, protective and occupational shoes, which, together with ISO 20345, ISO 20346 and ISO 20347 standards, define the performance and essential features of the shoe.
While implementing these standards, all national standards regarding security measures were withdrawn. The EN ISO 22568-1 standard is designed to allow manufacturers to demonstrate the level of performance of their nostrils before they are placed on shoes. Metallic coatings and metallic end gaps that comply with the requirements of this standard are suitable components for shoes that are part of personal protective equipment.
In order to protect the clothing needs of the consumers and the environment, strict regulations governing the import and sale of shoes in many countries of the world have been made. The European Union and most other countries with healthy consumer markets have legal regulations and standards regarding shoe testing methods and quality control.
Shoe making companies, suppliers and retailers are responsible for ensuring that their products meet the legal regulations and standard requirements in the countries where they will be released. For this purpose, it has to prove that the products are tested in accordance with the legal requirements of the target market. Failure to do so will cause shipments to be rejected, while at the same time causing economic losses.
