The EN ISO 22568-2 standard, which describes the requirements and test methods for non-metallic coatings used in foot and leg protectors, is actually a European standard and has been re-published by the International Standards Organization (ISO).
This part of the EN ISO 22568 standard relates to safety, protective and occupational shoes that define the performance and essential features of the shoe, combined with the ISO 20345, ISO 20346 and ISO 20347 standards. The EN ISO 22568-2 standard is designed to allow manufacturers to demonstrate the level of performance of their nostrils before they are placed on shoes. Non-metallic foot cavities, which comply with the requirements of this standard, are suitable components of personal footwear protective shoes.
Laws on protective shoes in developed countries focus on regulations, protection of intellectual property rights, consumer health and environmental protection (restrictions on chemicals in shoes), product composition and labeling requirements, personal protective equipment (workwear) and product safety and quality.
These legal regulations and national and international standards require shoes to be tested by neutral and independent third-party authorized organizations to ensure that products meet all requirements. Various tests are performed in developed laboratories that evaluate protective shoes for certification in accordance with the legal regulations of each country. The requirements differ for the shoes intended for the average adult consumer and shoes designed for children or workplaces.
The standard in question has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 22568-2 Foot and leg protectors - Requirements and test methods for the shoe component - Part 2: Non-metallic toecaps.
