The EN ISO 27065 standard, which describes the specifications and test methods of protective clothing worn by people who use pesticides during their agricultural activities, is essentially a European standard and has been re-published by the International Standards Organization (ISO).
The standard describes minimum performance, classification and labeling requirements for protective clothing worn by agricultural workers using water-diluted liquid pesticide products. Protective clothing that falls within the scope of this standard includes, but are not limited to, jackets, trousers, shirts, overalls, and spray-proof or liquid-proof clothing.
This standard also covers protection provided by other protective accessories, except for equipment used to protect the head, hands and feet. In contrast, it does not address protection against biocides, fumigants or highly volatile liquids.
The concept of pesticides mentioned in the ISO 27065 standard refers to insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and other substances applied in liquid form in order to prevent, destroy, spray or reduce the harmful and weeds growing in agricultural areas, green areas and roadsides. This standard does not cover biocidal products used in agricultural and non-agricultural environments.
Exposure to pesticides causes a variety of health problems that can be exacerbated by greater toxicity. Therefore, protective clothing should be used to avoid this exposure. The use of protective equipment against pesticides is indispensable and essential until the preparation and application of pesticides.
The standard in question was published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) in our country with the following title: TS EN ISO 27065 Protective clothing - Performance requirements of protective clothing and re-entry workers worn by operators using pesticides.
