TS EN ISO 374-1 Protective Gloves Against Hazardous Chemicals and Microorganisms - Terms and Performance Rules

The EN ISO 374-1 standard, which describes terms and performance rules for protective gloves against hazardous chemicals and microorganisms, is a European standard on its basis and has been re-published by the International Standards Organization (ISO). This standard is designed to help users and security experts identify chemical protection needs and ensure consistency in testing. The requirements in the standard against chemical and microorganism exposure must be reflected on the gloves and their packages with symbols.

TS EN ISO 374-1 Protective Gloves Against Hazardous Chemicals and Microorganisms - Terms and Performance Rules

EN ISO 374 standard brings three levels of chemical grading performance. Now their chemical gloves are divided into three categories, type A, type B and type C. This classification is based on the number of chemicals tested from a list of nearly twenty chemicals that fit a defined permeability assessment.

Chemical protection levels are as follows:

  • Type C: more than 10 minutes of performance against at least one of the chemicals on the list
  • Type B: more than 30 minutes of performance against at least three of the listed chemicals
  • Type A: more than 30 minutes of performance against at least six of the listed chemicals

Markings on protective gloves indicate the type and level of performance of chemical resistance. The standard also introduces the concept of microorganism resistance. Chemical risk protection is described in EN ISO 374-1 standard, microorganism risk protection is described in EN ISO 374-5 standard.

The standard in question has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 374-1 Protective gloves against dangerous chemicals and microorganisms - Part 1: Terms and performance rules for chemical risks.

Within the scope of protective clothing tests, TSK ISO 374-1 provides performance testing services for protective gloves against hazardous chemicals and microorganisms.
