TS EN ISO 374-2 Protective Gloves Against Hazardous Chemicals and Microorganisms - Determination of Resistance to Penetration

The EN ISO 374-2 standard, which describes the criteria for determination of penetration resistance related to protective gloves against hazardous chemicals and microorganisms, is a European standard on its basis and has been re-published by the International Standards Organization (ISO). This standard determines the ability of gloves used with various needs to protect the wearer from chemicals and microorganisms.

TS EN ISO 374-2 Protective Gloves Against Hazardous Chemicals and Microorganisms - Determination of Resistance to Penetration

In general, there are two factors that determine the protective ability of gloves: penetration and permeability. Penetration is the ability to penetrate. Non-molecular movements through pores, sutures, pinholes and other defects in the material used in the production of a protective glove show penetration resistance. Permeability is the resistance of rubber and plastic materials in the gloves to form a barrier against chemicals and microorganisms.

In laboratory tests, the passing times of protective gloves or the time it takes for the hazardous liquid to come into contact with the skin are measured. Each of the twenty defined chemicals tested is evaluated as the transition time performance between 0 and 6.

In some processes, protective gloves act as sponges and absorb fluids, leaving the skin with these fluids by contact. This causes the glove to fail (degradation). It is called degradation that some properties of a protective glove material change as a result of its contact with chemicals, causing harm to human health.

The standard in question has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 374-2 Protective gloves - Against chemicals and micro organisms - Part 2: Determination of penetration resistance.

Within the scope of protective clothing tests, our institution also provides TS EN ISO 374-2 penetration resistance test services related to protective gloves against dangerous chemicals and microorganisms.
