TS EN ISO 374-5 Protective Gloves Against Hazardous Chemicals and Microorganisms

The EN ISO 374-5 standard, which describes the requirements and test methods for protective gloves used against hazardous chemicals and microorganisms, is actually a European standard and has been re-published by the International Standards Organization (ISO). This standard explains the criteria that protective gloves must possess, especially in terms of the risks of contact with microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and viruses.

TS EN ISO 374-5 Tehlikeli Kimyasallara ve Mikroorganizmalara Karşı Koruyucu Eldivenler

The EN ISO 374-5 standard defines the requirements for protective gloves against microbiological agents. Previously, a penetration test must be carried out for bacteria and fungi following the method described in the EN 374-2 standard. These tests include air leakage and water leakage tests. For protection against viruses, compliance with method B described in the ISO 16604 standard is required.

If other protective properties are required for protective gloves (eg mechanical risks, thermal risks, chemical risks, electrostatic dispersion and similar tests), the appropriate specific performance standard should also be used. EN 420 standard contains more explanation regarding protective gloves standards.

When penetration (penetration) is said in protective gloves, it is meant that a microorganism passes through porous materials, seams, pores, and similar defective parts. Rubber and plastic films in gloves sometimes act as a sponge by absorbing liquids and holding the liquid to prevent contact with the skin. Therefore, it is necessary to calculate the time for passing the fluids or the time it takes for the dangerous liquid to contact the skin.

The standard in question has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 374-5 Protective gloves against hazardous chemicals and microorganisms - Part 5: Terms and performance rules for microorganism risks.

Within the scope of protective clothing tests, TS EN ISO 374-5 provides protective services to hazardous chemicals and microorganisms.
