AAMA 620 Voluntary Specification for High Performance Organic Coatings on Coil Coated Architectural Aluminum Substrates

This specification describes test procedures and requirements for high performance organic coatings applied to aluminum coil substrates for architectural use. This specification covers factory applied coil coatings only.

This specification will assist the architect, owner, and contractor in identifying and achieving factory-applied organic coatings that will provide and maintain a superior level of performance over many years in terms of film integrity, weather resistance, and overall appearance.

Products tested to meet this specification must meet all the requirements of this specification. Coatings shall be visibly free of flow lines, streaks, bubbles or other surface defects in the case of a dry film on exposed surfaces.

The total dry film thickness on the exposed surfaces shall be at least 23 microns total film thickness. In two-coat applications containing a primer, the top coat will be a minimum of 5 microns with a 18 micron primer.
