After cooling to the normal coating temperature, the applied thermoplastic produces an adhesive retroreflective strip of certain color, thickness and width, which can resist deformation by traffic.
The Lead Free (L/F) yellow thermoplastic will contain appropriate quantities of CI Pigment Yellow 83 (opaque version) and titanium dioxide (Rutile) to produce a yellow material with a weatherproof and heat resistant yellow color that meets:
The requirements for yellow color, reflectance, color stability (accelerated decomposition), and retroreflection are as specified here. Other pigments can be added to achieve these color requirements. L/F yellow thermoplastic material will appear yellow in both day and night conditions when applied dropwise.
The remainder of the thermoplastic composition will be determined by the manufacturer within the constraints of the requirements below. It is the manufacturer's responsibility to produce a thermoplastic material that contains the necessary plasticizers, antioxidants and other additives to maintain the color, viscosity and all other properties of the thermoplastic as specified herein.
