This standard specifies the drying rate of a fabric exposed to a predetermined volume of water while in contact with a heated plate set to 37°C (99°F), the skin surface temperature at which the human body begins to sweat.
This standard is applicable to all types of fabrics, including knitted, woven and non-woven fabrics, as well as to fabrics from end product items.
For the fully automatic test mode, the operator places the sample in the test area and the instrument automatically runs the test, including water dispensing, and produces the results upon completion. The operator can change the amount of water and air flow through the test parameters.
Based on the principle of a cloth wetted against a heat source by air flow, the evaporation of water will remove the heat to reduce the surface temperature. Detection of the temperature of the fabric surface accurately determines whether the textile is completely dry.
