AATCC TM96 Test Standard for Dimensional Changes in Commercial Laundering of Woven and Knitted Fabrics Except Wool

The AATCC-TM96 standard is a textile test that evaluates the dimensional changes of commercial laundering of woven and knitted fabrics (excluding wool). Naturally, it is the level of performance in the laundry room that we take as the basis for developing our fire retardant fabrics.

The dimensional change of woven and knit fabric samples subjected to commercial wash-specific washing, drying and restoration procedures is determined by measuring the changes in the comparison distances applied to the fabric before washing.

This textile test requires fabrics to be washed at 71°C in a normal wash cycle with normal detergent. The fabrics then pass through a normal tumble dryer and are finally evaluated according to criteria such as dimensional stability, smoothness and appearance, spoilage, discoloration, snagging (tearing).

Frontline industries (hospitals, nursing homes, healthcare) and many new operators (maritime - cruise ships) are also following these accessible, chemical-free principles as the first line of defense. Therefore, AATCC-TM96 is a particularly useful standard for evaluating the behavior and longevity of fabrics in a more demanding world.
