It can be applied to all textile floor coverings with uniform thickness and structure. It cannot be applied to other textile floor coverings unless areas of different thickness or structure can be tested separately.

Subjecting a test sample to a prolonged, heavy static loading process, thickness is measured before loading and after various recovery periods.

Samples should be conditioned in standard atmosphere for conditioning and testing textiles specified in ISO 139 and all measurements should be made. Preconditioning in a dry atmosphere is not required prior to standard atmosphere conditioning for testing.
