CPAI 84 Flammability Test Standard for Camping Tents

The CPAI 84 standard provides test methods for assessing the flame resistance of fabric and other bendable materials in the camping tent. It also provides performance criteria and certification guidelines for suppliers. Finally, it describes labeling programs to warn the user against actions harmful to flame retardant finishes. as well as to facilitate identification that the awning is made of flame resistant materials and to identify the manufacturer.

CPAI 84 Flammability Test Standard for Camping Tents

CPAI 84 is an industry well recognized flammability standard developed by IFAI (Industrial Fabrics Association International), the same standard is referenced and compliance is legally mandated by various state laws in the USA (California). Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, and New Jersey), as there are currently no federal level flammability standards or requirements for camping tents.
