DIN 14362 Textiles Methods for Determination of Certain Aromatic Amines Derived from Azo Colorants

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of DIN 14362 standard. This European Standard describes a procedure to detect the use of certain azo colorants that cannot be used in the manufacture or processing of certain products made from textile fibers and to which the reducing agent has access with or without extraction.

DIN 14362 Textiles Methods for Determination of Certain Aromatic Amines Derived from Azo Colorants

Azo colorants accessible without extraction by the reducing agent are those used to dye:

  • Cellulosic fibers (eg cotton, viscose);
  • Protein fibers (eg wool, silk);
  • Synthetic fibers (eg polyamide, acrylic).

Extractable azo colorants are those used to dye synthetic fibers with disperse dyes. The following synthetic fibers can be dyed with disperse dyes: polyester, polyamide, acetate, triacetate, acrylic and chloro fiber.

For certain products made from protein fibers mixed with cellulose or synthetic fibers, it is necessary to remove the dye first.

The method applies to all colored textiles, for example dyed, printed and coated textiles.
