This part of the DIN 4102 standard applies to requirements and measures to ensure the functional integrity of electrical wiring systems in the event of fire. The scope of application is limited to cables with rated voltage up to 1 kV.
The functional integrity of cable systems evaluated according to this standard does not include a voltage drop due to a temperature-dependent increase in resistance or reduced current carrying capacity of the conductor due to inhibited heat dissipation.
Cable systems include power cables, insulated power lines, installation cables and lines for telecommunications and information processing systems, and busbar trunking, including associated ducts, sheaths, fasteners, carrying devices, and brackets. The functional integrity of electrical wiring systems must be verified against this standard by means of a test-based test certificate.
The functional integrity of cable systems must not be adversely affected by surrounding components during the classification period. It will ensure that the cable systems are arranged horizontally only. has been tested, i.e. the test results on horizontal cable systems also apply to the corresponding inclined or vertical ones. The rating is valid only for oblique or vertical ones.
If the cable systems are supported vertically and horizontally in the transition zone, the cable systems are prevented from bending or sliding on the cable. The results of the test can be applied to two- and three-sided flame ducts if the connection and connections to adjacent components can be evaluated.
The entrepreneur, who takes measures to ensure the functionality of the cable system manufacturers, has to issue a declaration of conformity for each construction project it is related to.
