EN 13438 Standard Test for Paints and Varnishes, Hot-Dip Galvanized or Charred Steel Products for Construction Purposes

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 13438 standard. This European standard specifies performance requirements for organic coating powders and powdered organic coatings applied to finished products (hot-dip galvanized or beaded steel products) for construction purposes.

Hot-dip galvanized steel products can be bulk hot-dip galvanized (hot-dip galvanized after factory) or products consisting of continuous hot-dip galvanized sheet, which is then fabricated.

This European standard does not specify any performance requirements for the powder coating process itself. Guidance is provided on the cleaning and pre-treatment of hot-dip galvanized or striped steel products prior to powder coating.

This European standard does not apply to zinc-aluminum-plated or aluminum-zinc-plated articles or to wires that are continuously hot-dip galvanized. This standard does not apply to organic coating powders and powdered organic coatings applied to hot-dip galvanized or bevelled steel products (i.e. duplex coated articles), there are specific standards for these, and they may contain additional requirements or requirements that differ from those of this standard.
