This method applies to dry material (bagged or bulk) or freshly mixed screed materials (ready or in-situ mixed) or products supplied in pre-packaged form or in ready-to-mix packs. This method is valid for cement based, calcium sulphate, magnesite and synthetic resin screed material mortars.
Mixing should be carried out in strict accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, using the specified water or liquid content. If a range of values is given for the addition of water or liquid, the average value should be used. If the manufacturer declares the consistency of the mixed screed material, this value should be taken. The temperature of the test room, equipment and materials (dry material, water) will be (20 ± 5)°C.
If the transport of fresh samples is unavoidable, together with a written instruction stating which tests will be carried out and any water loss, water ingress etc. that may occur. should be immediately available for testing, protected from changes. Samples should be prepared immediately after sample collection, after the sample has been manually mixed again.
All solid materials are put into the mixer and mixed. While the mixer is running at low speed, the specified amount of liquid should be added for 15 seconds. Mixing should be continued for another 45 seconds at low speed. The mixer should be stopped and the edges of the mixing bowl should be scraped with the knife. Mix for one more minute at low or high speed as recommended by the manufacturer.
