ISO 11403-1 Plastics, Presentation of Comparable Multipoint Data, Part 1: Mechanical Properties Test Standard

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 11403-1 standard. ISO 11403-1 specifies test procedures for obtaining and presenting multi-point data on the following mechanical properties of plastics:

ISO 11403-1 Plastics, Presentation of Comparable Multipoint Data, Part 1: Mechanical Properties Test Standard

  • dynamic module;
  • Tensile properties at constant test speed;
  • Ultimate stress and strain;
  • Tensile stress-strain curves;
  • Tensile creep;
  • Charpy impact power;
  • Puncture impact behavior.

The test methods and test conditions apply mainly to plastics that can be injection or compression molded or prepared as sheets of certain thickness from which samples of appropriate size can be processed.

This standard was prepared because users of plastics found that the available data cannot be easily used to compare the properties of similar materials, especially when the data is provided from different sources. Even if the same standard tests are used, it often allows for the adoption of a wide variety of alternative test conditions, and the data obtained are not necessarily comparable.

The purpose of this standard is to specify the specific test methods and conditions to be used for obtaining and presenting data so that valid comparisons between materials can be made.
