EN 12016 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Product Family Standard for Elevators, Escalators and Escalators

This European Standard specifies immunity performance criteria and test levels for apparatus used in elevators, escalators and moving walks intended for permanent installation in buildings, including essential safety requirements regarding their electromagnetic environment. These levels represent basic EMC requirements. The standard refers to EM conditions present in residential, office and industrial buildings.

This standard addresses the commonly known EMC-related hazards and hazardous situations associated with elevators, escalators and escalators when used as intended and under conditions prescribed by the elevator installer or the escalator or escalator manufacturer.

However, performance criteria and test levels for apparatus-to-device assembly used in general function circuits do not cover situations that are very unlikely to occur.

This standard, lighting apparatus, communication apparatus, etc. It does not apply to other apparatus not related to the safety of elevators, escalators or moving walks, such as elevators, and which have already proven to be compliant with the EMC Directive.

This European Standard does not apply to electromagnetic environments such as:

• radio transmitting stations;
• Railways and metropolises;
• Heavy industry facility;
• Power plant requiring additional inspection.
