EN 13369 Common Rules Test Standard for Precast Concrete Products

This standard specifies the requirements, key performance criteria and the Evaluation and Verification of Continuity of Performance (AVCP) for unreinforced, reinforced and prestressed prestressed concrete products made of compact, light, normal and heavy concrete according to EN 206.

Concrete containing fibers (steel, polymer or other fibres) apart from mechanical properties is also included. It does not cover prefabricated reinforced components of light aggregate concrete with open structure. It can also be used to indicate non-standard products. Not all of the requirements of this standard (clause 4) are relevant to all precast concrete products.

The analysis and design of precast concrete products is beyond the scope of this standard, but for non-seismic zones it provides information on:

• Selection of partial safety factors defined by the relevant Eurocode;
• Description of some requirements for prestressed concrete products.

This standard aims to summarize general common requirements that apply to a wide variety of precast concrete products manufactured in a factory environment. It acts as a reference standard for other standards in order to provide a more consistent approach to standardization in the field of precast concrete products and to reduce the variations brought about by the large number of standards produced in parallel by different expert groups. It also gives these experts the flexibility to include variations in specific product standards as needed.

This standard was produced as part of the overall CEN program for construction and refers to the relevant specifications of the standards EN 206 for concrete and EN 1992 for the design of concrete structures. Installation of some precast concrete products is covered by EN 13670.

The design of precast concrete products must be validated to ensure that their properties are suitable for a particular application, and special attention must be paid to design coordination with other parts of the structure.
