EN 12217 Doors - Operating forces - Requirements and Classification

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 12217 standard. The EN 12217 standard can be applied to hinged/revolving and sliding door sets for pedestrian use.

EN 12217 Doors - Operating forces - Requirements and Classification

Defines the classification of test results for forces and/or torques to open/close doors and engage/release and lock/unlock hardware using a key or lever, after testing in accordance with EN 12046 2.

For door sets with self-closing devices, the classification of forces is excluded from this test method. It also does not apply to door sets with special equipment, eg emergency exit devices.

The tests can be applied to door sets made of any material. The operation of some glazed doors (door high windows) involves latch hardware and can be classified according to this European Standard.

The test specimen is mounted on a 100 x 75 mm wooden subframe in accordance with the manufacturer's installation requirements and secured to the test rig ready for testing. At each period equal to 2500 cycles, or 25% of the total test cycles specified, whichever is greater, the test is stopped and the test specimen inspected and operating forces are measured and lubrication and adjustment if necessary.
