EN 1856-2 Requirements for Metal Flues - Part 2: Metal Flue Liners and Connection Flues

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 1856-2 standard. This part of EN 1856 specifies performance requirements for rigid or flexible metal liners, rigid coupling flue pipes and rigid fittings used to transmit combustion products from appliances to the outside atmosphere (including their support). Glassy enamel connection flue pipes are also within the scope of this document.

EN 1856-2 Requirements for Metal Flues - Part 2: Metal Flue Liners and Connection Flues

Rigid liners can be used as chimney liners for retrofitting or retrofitting existing chimneys and as chimney liners for custom-made chimneys. The flexible metal liners described in this standard are for retrofitting or retrofitting existing chimneys only.

This standard also specifies requirements for marking, manufacturer's instructions, product information and conformity assessment. Flexible connecting flue pipes and extensible flexible pipes designed to be compressed or extended along their length
products are outside the scope of this document. Single-walled and multi-walled system chimney products are within the scope of EN 1856-1.

This document has been prepared as a harmonized standard to provide ways to comply with the essential requirements of the Building Product Directive and the relevant EFTA regulations.

The generic word "chimney", when used in this document, refers to all products used to transmit combustion products from appliances to the outside atmosphere and therefore includes all other common usage terms in the trade, such as: vents, chimneys, shafts, exhaust systems, ducts, etc.

This document discusses corrosion resistance using material specifications for metal liners and connecting flue pipes, as well as an intermediate solution for test products. Three corrosion resistance tests have been adopted from the existing corrosion tests carried out in various member countries.

It is intended to review the intermediate solution over a 5 year period in order to develop a unique test method for corrosion resistance as the final solution.
