EN 12625-5 Tissue Paper and Tissue Products, Part 5: Determination of Wet Tensile Strength

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 12625-5 standard. This part of EN 12625 specifies a test method for determining the wet tensile strength of tissue paper and tissue products after wetting using a tensile tester operating at a constant rate of elongation.

EN 12625-5 Tissue Paper and Tissue Products, Part 5: Determination of Wet Tensile Strength

A test piece of tissue paper or tissue product supplied as a finished product of certain dimensions, immersed in water immediately prior to testing for a specified period of time, is stretched to rupture at a constant rate of elongation using a pull.

Make sure the tensile tester is calibrated and check the zero position of the recorder. Test at least 20 test pieces of each sample in the ten and cross directions in the machine direction.

If the material has been treated with a wet strength agent, ensure that the wet strength has fully developed before starting the test.

The use of a soaking cup that can be lowered between the clamps of the horizontal tensile tester or the use of a separate soaking cup outside the tensile tester should be permitted.
