EN 12625-8 Tissue and Tissue Products, Part 8: Water Absorption Time and Water Absorption Capacity, Basket Immersion Test Method

This part of EN 12625 describes a principle for determining the water absorption properties of tissue paper and tissue paper products, in which the sample sheets are placed in a cylindrical basket immersed in water. The results are expressed as:

• water absorption time and
• water absorption capacity.

Both manual and automatic methods are available, but the procedure described in this section of ISO 12625 is for manual devices only. This is because the precision results obtained using different automated methods in an interlaboratory study are not acceptable when compared to results obtained using the manual test method.

However, automated test methods may be used, provided they can be shown to produce the same results as the manual method in terms of mean values ​​and standard deviations.
