The edge seal system must provide adequate resistance to moisture ingress into the IGU cavity and loss of charge gas. In addition, exterior or sole sealants must be able to form durable adhesive and cohesive strength to maintain the integrity of the edge seal system subjected to environmental and mechanical loads throughout the economically reasonable operating life of the IGU.
Interior sealants can also be used as an assembly aid to bond the glass to the spacer during the fabrication process. Other components of the IGU edge seal can affect the durability of the edge seal.
The sealing material supplier must demonstrate compliance with the declared specifications by making the test reports issued. The required test reports should contain the test results of the respective strength and substitution properties and the physicochemical characterization test results, respectively.
