DIN 51805 Determination of Flow Pressure of Lubricating Greases, Kesternich Technique Test Standard

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of DIN 51805 standard. This standard specifies an automated method for determining the flow pressure of lubricating greases at various temperatures and tempering times to be agreed.

DIN 51805 Determination of Flow Pressure of Lubricating Greases, Kesternich Technique Test Standard

Centralized lubrication systems typically offer lower maintenance costs and greater reliability than conventional grease application methods. Pressure is applied to the system to initiate the flow of grease, lower temperatures normally require higher pressures than higher temperatures. This test determines the pressure required to initiate the flow of grease at low temperatures.

Grease is packed into the test nozzle, brought to test temperature, and pressure is applied. The pressure is increased at 30 second intervals until the oil passes through the nozzle. Reported is the flow pressure in mbar.

This standard was prepared by the working committee NA 062-06-62 AA "Testing of lubricating greases" in the mineral oil and fuel standardization (FAM) expert committee of the DIN standards committee (NMP) for materials testing.
