EN 1288-3 Glass in Building, Determination of the Bending Strength of Glass, Part 3: Test with a Two-Point Supported Sample

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 1288-3 standard. This standard specifies a method for determining the flexural strength of flat glass used in buildings, including the effects of the edges.

EN 1288-3 Glass in Building, Determination of the Bending Strength of Glass, Part 3: Test with a Two-Point Supported Sample

The following measuring tools are required:

  • A measuring instrument that allows the width of the sample to be measured to the nearest millimetre;
  • A measuring instrument that allows the thickness of the sample to be measured to the nearest 0,01 mm.

For evaluation purposes only samples where the fracture source is between the bending rolls will be considered.

In the case of the test piece, edge processing, prior mechanical damage, etching, etc. Any intended modifications by means of flexural strength must be completed at least 24 hours prior to testing for flexural strength. Similarly, protective coatings will be removed at least 24 hours before testing. Samples should be stored in the test environment for at least 4 hours before being tested.
