The EN 13310 standard specifies functional requirements and test methods for domestic kitchen sinks that ensure satisfactory performance of the product when installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
For the purposes of this standard, the term "domestic use" includes use in hotels, student accommodation, hospitals and similar buildings. This document does not specify aesthetic requirements and overall dimensions of kitchen sinks. It does not apply to industrial kitchen sinks. All illustrations are examples only; other forms are allowed.
Kitchen sinks can be combined in a purpose-built kitchen with scum holes and if any, tap holes and overflows, with or without drains, stand alone, integrated with or combined with a worktop, or designed for food preparation, washing dishes and draining household waste water. It is an imported material.
The manufacturer must provide installation, use and maintenance instructions. The Annexes provide advice on the care and use of kitchen sinks, which the manufacturer can include in their use and care instructions.
Compliance with the applicable European Directives must be declared by the manufacturer in the instructions for use and care of materials intended to come into contact with foodstuffs.
Tests can be performed in any order but must be performed on new material for each test category. If the sink is designed as a single bowl, samples for the test will be cut from a second sink. All tests should be performed at a room temperature of (23 ± 5) °C, unless otherwise stated.
