EN 13564-1 Flood Protection Devices for Buildings, Part 1: Standard Test for Requirements

This part of this standard specifies the types and requirements for material, performance, design, construction and marking for factory-made fecal or non-fecal effluent overflow prevention devices for use in building drainage systems or curved areas.

Anti-overflow devices should automatically shut off when backflow occurs, when the pipe is filled or before filling, and should allow normal flow to re-establish when the backflow stops. The automatic shut-off device must not obstruct flow under low flow conditions. Therefore, it will open when there is 50% of the pipe diameter or the maximum upstream water depth of 50mm.

The dimensions of the sockets or plugs of the anti-overflow devices must comply with the pipe fittings of the same nominal diameter according to the relevant European standards. The nominal size of the output must not be less than the nominal size of the input.

All connections of anti-flood devices and all connections on them shall be designed to be watertight in accordance with the relevant European standards or, where they are not available, according to EN 476.

The operating mode and the closing direction of the emergency stop device must be clearly and durably indicated. In cases where this is actuated by the rotation of an actuating element, it will close clockwise.
