EN 13172 Thermal Insulation Products - Conformity Assessment

This European Standard specifies the procedures and criteria for evaluating the conformity of a thermal insulation product with the relevant European product specification.

This European Standard applies to factory-made products for buildings, factory-made products for building equipment and industrial plants, on-site products for buildings, on-site products for building equipment and industrial plants, and external thermal insulation composite systems.

Tests demonstrating the conformity of the finished product to the relevant product standard should be performed using equipment that conforms to the test methods referred to in the product standard. The manufacturer must ensure the continued suitability of test equipment. Test equipment (including software) must provide the accuracy required by the test methods specified in the product standard.

The accuracy of the test equipment must be ensured by periodic calibration. All calibrations must be traceable to relevant international or, if unsuccessful, nationally recognized reference test samples (standards). Where such reference test specimens are not available, the basis used for calibration should be documented.

The manufacturer must ensure that raw materials and other component materials comply with its own specifications. In determining controls, due consideration should be given to the control performed by the supplier and the documented evidence of conformity provided (often referred to as supplier certified components or certified raw materials).

The manufacturer must ensure that incoming raw materials and other components are used or processed only after their compliance with the stated requirements has been verified. When incoming material for immediate production purposes is released prior to verification, it must be identified and recorded to allow for immediate recall in case of nonconformity.
