EN 13892-4 Test Methods for Screed Materials - Part 4: Determination of Wear Resistance-BCA

This European standard specifies a method for determining the abrasion resistance of test specimens made of cementitious or synthetic resin screed material, or optionally for other screed materials. The method is also suitable for floor screeds.

The wear resistance-BCA of the screed surface is evaluated by measuring the average depth of wear caused by a machine with three hardened steel wheels rotating on an annular area for a fixed number of revolutions under a standard load. The average wear depth within the ring pattern is used to indicate the wear resistance of the screed surface at the test site.

A circular template is used to mark the position of the depth gauge feet and the holes to be drilled to accommodate the frame. These limit pin holes are 456 mm apart and equidistant from the center of the body. The holes in the template are positioned an even radial spacing of 45° so that the gauge slider rests on the centerline of the rut when the depth gauge feet are placed on the ground with its feet above the marks.

The gauge used to measure the depth of wear should be readable to the nearest 10 µm. The spacing between the feet of the rangefinder should allow the testing machine to sit on the rut.
