This European Standard specifies the characteristics of flexible plastic or rubber sheets intended for use as water vapor control layers for buildings and applies to both reinforced and non-reinforced products. It specifies the requirements and test methods and enables the evaluation of the conformity of products with the requirements of this European Standard.
The types of vapor control layers covered by this European Standard are determined as follows:
Type A: Steam control layers,
Type B: Vapor control layers - non-waterproof,
Type V: Vapor control layers - vent or exhaust vapor control layer.
Where a tolerance is limited by this European Standard, it need not be declared by the manufacturer.
When tested for purposes other than initial type testing or factory production control, tests to determine product properties specified in this European Standard must be initiated within one month from the date of delivery from the manufacturer.
Length, width and flatness shall be determined in accordance with EN 1848-2. The length and width must be within the declared tolerance of the manufacturer's declared value. The maximum deviation from straightness must not exceed 10 mm per 75 lengths or in proportion to other lengths.
Where a product is specified as mass per unit area, the mass must be within the declared tolerance of the manufacturer's declared value. Where the dimensions of any profile are comparable to the area to be measured, a larger sample area should be used and deviation from the method should be noted.
