ISO 3302-2 Rubber - Tolerances for Products - Geometric Tolerances

This standard specifies the following geometric tolerances for molded and extruded solid rubber products, including those with metal inserts:

• Flatness tolerance;
• Parallelism tolerance;
• Perpendicularity tolerance;
• coaxial tolerance;
• Positional tolerance.

Tolerances are primarily designed for use with vulcanized rubber but may also be suitable for products made from thermoplastic rubber.

For solid products, size measurements should not be made before 16 hours after curing, in case of conflict this minimum period is extended to 72 hours. Measurements must be completed within 3 months from the date of shipment to the buyer or before the product is put into use, whichever is shorter.

Measurements should be made at standard temperature after conditioning. Care should be taken not to expose the products to adverse storage conditions and not to deteriorate during measurement.

The geometric tolerances specified in ISO 3302-2 help ensure that rubber products meet required standards, fit correctly for their intended applications, and function as intended. By defining tolerance classes, the standard allows for an acceptable range of variations in dimensions such as diameters, lengths, angles and profiles while maintaining the functionality and performance of the product.
