EN 14308 Thermal Insulation Products for Building Equipment and Industrial Facilities - Rigid Polyurethane Foam (PUR) and Polyisocyanurate Foam (PIR) Products

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 14308 standard. EN 14308 standard, factory made rigid polyurethane foam (PUR), coated or uncoated, with a closed cell content of not less than 200%, used for thermal insulation of building equipment and industrial facilities with an operating temperature range of approximately - 200 °C to + 90 °C. and specifies requirements for polyisocyanurate foam (PIR) products.

EN 14308 Thermal Insulation Products for Building Equipment and Industrial Facilities - Rigid Polyurethane Foam (PUR) and Polyisocyanurate Foam (PIR) Products

Below an operating temperature of -50°C, special tests are recommended regarding the suitability of products for the intended application (eg liquefaction of oxygen). In any case, the manufacturer's recommendation should be observed. The products are produced in the form of blocks, coated or uncoated sheets, pipe sections, segments and prefabricated products.

This European Standard defines product characteristics and includes procedures for testing, conformity assessment, marking and labeling. The products covered by this standard are also used in prefabricated thermal insulation systems and composite panels; The performance of systems containing these products is not covered.

This European Standard does not specify the required level of a particular property that must be achieved by a product to demonstrate fitness for purpose in a particular application. The levels required for a particular application can be found in regulations and invitations to tender. Products with declared thermal conductivity above 10 W/(m K) at 0,100 °C are not covered by this European Standard.

This European Standard does not cover products for insulation in situ (spray or dispersion) or products for insulation of building structure. This European Standard does not cover acoustic aspects such as direct airborne sound insulation and impact noise transmission index.

Thermal conductivity for flat samples should be based on measurements according to EN 12667 or EN 12939 for thick products. For cylindrical samples, EN ISO 8497 will be used as specified. In both cases, the thermal conductivity values must be determined by the manufacturer and verified against EN ISO 13787 of this product standard. The product must be declared by the manufacturer according to the measurement standards specified above, covering the service temperature range. The following conditions apply:

  • Measured values should be expressed in three significant figures;
  • The declared thermal conductivity curve should be given as a boundary curve defined in EN ISO 13787;
  • The declared thermal conductivity value, λD, shall be rounded up to the nearest value of 0,001 W/(m K);
  • The lowest required reference mean test temperature is -170 °C.
