TS EN 13718-1 Medical Vehicles and Equipment - Air Ambulances - Part 1: Features of Medical Devices Used in Air Ambulances

This European Standard specifies general requirements for medical devices carried in air ambulances and used inside and outside hospitals and clinics where ambient conditions may differ from normal indoor conditions.

This European Standard does not cover the requirements regarding the approval and registration of the vehicle and the training of the personnel, which are the responsibility of the competent authority/authorities in the country where the ambulance will be registered.

Time is of the essence in the field of medical services. Sometimes seconds are very important in human life. There are cases where even a second delay causes human life. In order to cope with such situations, especially air ambulances must be well-equipped and their medical equipment must be reliable and of superior performance. Today, modern air ambulances have the most advanced technology. The medical equipment used in these ambulances is capable of easily providing care close to the hospital during the transport of the patient, and the transfer of the patient from one place to another has become very comfortable and easy.

In the transfer of patients who are far from home but need medical treatment and can only be transferred by air ambulance, or the transfer of patients who want to reach more equipped facilities to perform the desired medical treatments due to the impossibility of their location and insufficient medical care, the patient is more equipped than a hospital. Air ambulance service is always needed for transportation to the hospital.
