EN 14697 Textiles, Towels and Terry Fabrics, Specification and Test Methods

This standard covers only woven terry fabric structures. This standard does not cover towels used in the healthcare industry or closet rolled towels.

Terry towels for domestic use will be marked with care instructions. According to ISO 3758 these markings shall be legible and durable enough to withstand a predictable number of washing and drying cycles.

The determination of the total mass applies to terry towels. After conditioning, a certain number of towels are taken and the mass of a single towel is determined by calculating.

The terry cloth ratio or pile/ground ratio is the length in millimeters of the removed pile yarn (measured according to ISO 721 1-3) divided by the length of the sample in millimeters. The length of the sample will be 100 mm.
