EN 15283-1 Fibrous Reinforced Gypsum Boards - Definitions, Requirements and Test Methods - Part 1: Matte Reinforced Gypsum Boards

This European standard specifies the properties and performance of mesh-reinforced gypsum boards intended for use in building construction, including those intended for secondary fabrication operations.

It includes boards designed for direct surface decoration or gypsum plastering. Matt reinforced plasterboard sheets are selected for use according to their type, size, thickness and edge profile.

The boards can be used to provide dry cladding coverings, for example, to walls, fixed and suspended ceilings, partitions or structural columns and beams. Other uses may be floors, ventilation and fume extraction ducts, cable ducts and sheathing applications.

This European standard covers the following product performance characteristics:

• reaction to fire,
• water vapor permeability,
• Flexural strength and thermal resistance.

This European standard also covers additional technical specifications important for the use and acceptance of the product and reference tests for these features. It allows the evaluation of the product's conformity with this EN.

This European standard does not cover matt reinforced gypsum boards that have been subjected to any secondary manufacturing process (eg insulating composite panels, thin laminated boards, etc.).
