This European standard specifies the properties and performance of gypsum fiber boards intended for use in building construction work, including those intended for secondary manufacturing operations.
It includes boards designed for direct surface decoration or gypsum plastering. Gypsum fiber boards are selected for use according to their type, size, thickness and edge profile.
The boards can be used to provide dry coat finishes, for example, as cladding to walls, fixed and suspended ceilings, partitions or structural columns and beams. Other uses may be for flooring and sheathing applications.
This European standard covers the following product performance characteristics: reaction to fire, water vapor permeability, bending strength and thermal resistance.

This European standard also covers additional technical specifications important for the use and acceptance of the product and reference tests for these features. Allows evaluation of the product's conformity with this EN.
This European standard does not cover gypsum fiber boards that have undergone any secondary manufacturing process (eg insulating composite panels, thin laminated boards, etc.). Products covered by EN 520 or EN 13815 are excluded.
