This standard specifies a laboratory test method for determining the biocidal biostatic activity of single active substances or combinations thereof used in film preservatives in a coating.
This standard does not apply to coatings that are not susceptible to fungal growth. The test method only includes active substances for the protection of the film, not the protection of the substrate itself, such as wood, which is covered in another standard.
The test method applies to active substances used in wood and wall coverings. Not applicable to marine coatings. Safety, health and environmental issues are not covered by this standard.
Determining the performance of film protectors in coatings by applying aging processes is not within the scope of this standard.
