TS 3596 Textile - Cotton Canvas Cloth - Features

In the TS 3596 standard published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), the definition and classification of cotton tarpaulin, which is among textile products, is made, its properties and sampling method are explained, and test methods are defined.

The preparation of this standard is based on the following standard developed by the US Department of Defense: MIL-C-43627D Military specifications: fabric, tarpaulin, cotton, ply yarns, fire, water, weather and ash resistant treated, slightly dry surface. This specification includes a type of finished tarpaulin that has been rendered fire, water, weather and mildew resistant using a light dry finish.

The requirements in this standard are explained as follows:

• The finished fabric must match the standard sample in color and appearance and, unless otherwise stated, must be equal to or better than the standard sample in all the properties to which it is referenced.
• Recycled material should be used where practical, as long as it meets the requirements of this specification.
• The yarn must be made of cotton that has been carded, drawn, spun and spun into two-ply yarns for both warp and padding.
• When tested, the greige and finished fabric must comply with the breaking strength, tear strength, air permeability, weight, warp filling, greige and finished values ​​specified in the table.
• The knit must be flat and the fabric must be woven on a shuttle or shuttle loom.
• The fabric should be of the specified widths and should be the minimum acceptable width including the hem when shuttle looms or shuttleless rolled edge looms are used.
• The color of the finished fabric should be as specified and match the standard sample.
• The dyed and finished fabric should exhibit fastness equal to or better than the standard sample against accelerated weathering.
• The spectral reflectance must be within the specified range.
