EN 1522 Standard Test for Windows, Doors, Shutters, Bullet Resistance, Requirements and Classification

This standard, together with their frames, is applicable to attacks by pistols, rifles and shotguns on windows, doors, shutters and shutters. To achieve a rating for bullet resistance, shutters must be tested separately, not in conjunction with a window or door.

This standard does not provide information about the behavior of the test item when subjected to other types of stress, nor about the lead resistance of the connection between the frame and the wall or other surrounding structure.

Any glass fill in the test specimen shall be of bulletproof glass conforming to the appropriate EN 1063 class. If the test sample contains higher grade glass, this should be stated in the test report and in the test report summary.

After the test according to EN 1523, the door leaf or any flap of a window, the leaf or curtain of a shutter or louver shall remain in the closed position and not be able to be opened, whether or not the opening mechanisms are still in operation.
