EN 16129 Test Standard for Automatic Switching Devices with a Maximum Regulated Pressure of 4 Bars and a Maximum Capacity of 150 kg/h

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 16129 standard. The EN 16129 standard defines the structural and operational characteristics, safety requirements, test methods and marking of regulators and automatic changeover devices with a maximum capacity of 4 kg/h, with a maximum regulated pressure of 150 bar for use with butane. Propane and their mixtures in the vapor phase.

This European Standard also applies to safety devices included in the regulatory devices covered by this standard. This European Standard also includes requirements for:

  • Adapters for connection to self-closing valves
  • Auxiliary safety devices

For the purposes of this European Standard:

  • Regulators and automatic changeover devices are referred to as "regulatory devices".
  • Regulators, auto-change devices and adapters are referred to as "devices".

The requirements apply to devices used where the temperature likely to be reached during use is between -20 °C and +50 °C. There are additional requirements for devices to be used at temperatures below –20 °C.

Additional requirements are specified for regulation devices intended for use in caravans, motorhomes and freshwater boats. There are separate requirements for regulation devices intended for use on seawater vessels.

For private use in caravan motorhomes and boats (freshwater and seawater), the autochange device function may also be performed by a group of regulators forming an "auto change device system" as defined.
Reference should be made to the installation rules of the devices and the national regulations in force in the member states for possible associated safety devices. All links and the countries in which they are used are indicated.

This European Standard only defines certain connections that are not defined in other standards (eg EN 15202 for cylinder valve connections.

EN 16129 applies to Pressure regulators, automatic switching systems with a maximum output pressure of 4 bar and a maximum of 150 kg/h, as well as related safety devices and transition parts for butane, propane and their blends.
