The EN 16139 standard specifies the requirements for safety, durability and durability of any non-domestic seating arrangement intended for use by adults weighing not more than 110 kg, including office visitor chairs.
This European Standard does not apply to bench seats, office desk chairs, seats for educational institutions, outdoor seating and interconnected seating with European Standards or drafts.
Nor does it apply to work chairs for industrial use. This European Standard does not include requirements for durability of upholstery materials, wheels, tilt and tilt mechanisms and seat height adjustment mechanisms. This European Standard does not contain requirements for resistance to aging, deterioration and flammability.
Chairs shall comply with safety, rigidity and durability requirements. During testing, we apply loads, forces and velocities that simulate normal functional use as well as misuse that can reasonably be expected to occur.
The difference between a seat test for domestic use and a visitor seat test is the different loads and endurance test cycles applied during static load tests. These test results can be used to represent the performance of production models, provided that the model under test represents the production model. The tests are based on the use of persons weighing up to 110 kg.
There are likely to be some dimensional requirements for out-of-home seating to ensure ergonomics. It is at the forefront to produce chairs suitable for users who regularly use these chairs in places such as meeting rooms, desks in offices or general work areas working on benches. Other changes are likely to align testing methods and requirements with other seating products, taking into account the types of use these chairs will be subjected to.
